The Take a Break community was created to address the growing need for balance in our digitally dominated world. My Journey: Why I Started the Take a Break Community.

Like many of us, I used to be constantly glued to my phone—scrolling through social media, responding to endless notifications, and feeling like I needed to be online all the time. It started as a way to stay connected, but over time, I realised that I was becoming more disconnected from the things that really mattered. I found myself exhausted, overstimulated, and missing out on the real moments in life.

Overstimulation and endless scrolling

One evening, I was scrolling through Instagram, completely unaware of how much time had passed. By the time I put my phone down, it was dark outside, and I realised I had spent my entire evening doing nothing of real value. That night, I felt a deep sense of loss—not just for the time I had wasted, but for the experiences and connections I had missed. I knew something had to change.

My baby steps into it.

I started experimenting with digital detox—putting my phone away for a few hours, taking walks without any devices, and even dedicating entire days to being offline. The impact was immediate and profound. I felt more present, more connected to the world around me, and surprisingly, more at peace. I began to notice the beauty in the little things: a quiet sunset, the sound of birds, the joy of a face-to-face conversation without distractions.

But I also realised how challenging it was to maintain this balance in a world that constantly demands our attention.

That was the moment that I knew…

That’s when the idea for the Take a Break community was born. I wanted a community to support balance, disconnect from digital noise, and reconnect with life together.

What’s the vision of the community?

I envision Take a Break as a global community that embraces and celebrates the beauty of being present. I want to create a movement that not only promotes digital detox but also encourages meaningful, real-life connections. Whether it’s through offline events, workshops, or simply sharing our stories, my goal is to help people rediscover the joy of living in the moment.
